Volunteering with the Bethany Athletic Society

Our organization is a not-for-profit group.  As such we require volunteers to help at our community park for things like maintenance, baseball, organizing events, and operating events.  There is lots to do, and we need people like you to help out where you can. Without you we can't provide the services that our community has come to love.

Some of the most important positions needing to be filled during the Victoria Day Long Weekend are: canteen sales, BBQ cooking, admission gates, smart serve bartenders, parade helpers, cake/pie auction helpers, pet show helpers and softball tournament helpers.  All of these positions are scheduled out in 2-4 hour blocks to give our volunteers a chance to help out, while leaving as much time as possible to enjoy the weekend with friends and family.

Anyone interested in volunteering on the Board of Directors itself are most welcome!  Volunteering for the Board requires a little more time committment by attending the once-monthly Board meetings and potentially assisting with coordinating other areas of running the park.  Board members vote collectively on ideas and issues facing the running of the park and work together to ensure as much of our community is represented as possible during those decisions.  Some key positions of assistance the Board is in need of are: Volunteer organizer/coordinator, Sponsor contact/coordinator, Canteen organizer/coordinator, Event organizer/coordinator.  These positions are designed to have one person working with other volunteers to distribute the work fairly to help everyone manage their already busy schedules in day-to-day life.

Bethany Athletic Society has instituted a Screening Program for all volunteers at the Bethany park. As a condition of volunteering, I give permission for the Bethany Athletic Society to conduct a background check on me, which may include a review of sex offender registries, child abuse and police records. I understand that, if appointed, my position is conditional upon the league receiving no inappropriate information on my background. I hereby release and agree to hold harmless from liability the Bethany Athletic Society, the officers, employees and volunteers thereof, or any other person or organization that may provide such information. I also understand that, regardless of previous appointments, Bethany Athletic Society is not obligated to appoint me to a volunteer position. If appointed, I understand that, prior to the expiration of my term, I am subject to suspension by the President and removal by the Board of Directors for violation of Bethany Athletic Society policies or principles.
